Just over 25 years ago, Bill Brooks and his wife Jacqueline began selling fruit and vegetables on a stall
at Leicester market. Today they run Leicestershire’s largest potato packing company, with more than 20 employees and a fleet of five lorries.

The company has invested substantially in its Welford Road site, installing computer-controlled sorting
and packing machinery and creating temperature controlled storage facilities to handle more than 250 tonnes of pre-packed potatoes a week.





It is a difficult trade because it changes so much with the weather, and building the business has
required careful planning, commitment and a lot of hard work. According to Mr Brooks, Mark J Rees have played an important part in his success.
